Having been born in Mexico Ana had to learn to communicate through symbols and visual language as she learned to navigate a different linguistic and cultural landscape when she moved to the United States. Early lessons of observation and the importance of empathy and curiosity remain present in her current work. She is now based in the Detroit area exploring and internal human landscape through drawing and sculpture.
She uses her work as a means of meditation and reflection as a world enfolds in her work, a landscape that is reflective of the growth and challenges of daily living as it is constructed through coping methods based in spirituality, philosophy, psychology, and community. It is a process that enables a greater understanding of the self and of others as it gives way to conscious and deliberate decision making, both in the work and out in the community. She most recently obtained her BFA from College for Creative Studies in 2021.
